Great Travel Craft Ideas

It’s nice after coming home from a vacation and looking at all those photos you took and figuring out where to put those souvenirs you brought back. We always take a ton of photos for our albums and we buy a Christmas ornament as our souvenir.

But if you want to do more than make a photo album or wear that really cool t-shirt you picked up while you were away, I have some great travel craft ideas for you.

1. Journal

I take a travel journal with me everywhere I go so that I can write about each day of our vacations. I make sure to include what we did, where we went, what we ate, etc. Then we have a great travel memory book. It’s inexpensive and it doesn’t take a lot of time.

2. Postcard Memory Book

This is a really great travel craft idea. All you need is some postcards, a pen, and a stamp. What you do is buy postcards for the number of days you are on vacation. I should mention that these postcards should be from your travels. Once you have your postcards you write on them what you did that day then mail them to yourself and once home you can bind them as a book or save them in an album.

3. Picture Book

All those pictures you took on your travels, turn them into a picture book. Most stores with a photo lab will have the option to make picture books. You can choose your photos and put text on the pages.

4. Wooden Keepsake Box

You can hit up any craft store and find wooden keepsake boxes. Paint them, maybe put the destination name on them and store all your photos, tickets, receipts, etc. in them.

5. Sand Collecting

Purchase a vase and collect sand from your travels to add to the vase. Make a label of your destination and the dates you travelled and place that on the vase where you poured the sand in.

6. Photo Map

I bought our oldest a photo map this past Christmas because she was interested in doing a lot of travel. It’s a pretty neat concept. The company sends you the map and you submit your favorite photo, or make a collage of photos, from your trip and they turn it into a state sticker for you to put on your map. They have various options to choose from and the price is reasonable. She absolutely loved hers.

7. Map Magnets

Turn your travel maps into magnets. You can use clear glass gems or miniature picture frames. If you use the gem idea all you need is a map, clear glass gems, mod podge, and some magnets. For the miniature picture frames craft all you need is a mini frame, hot glue, map, and magnets.

8. Coin Magnets

Have some left-over currency from that international trip, we have a way to use it. Turn it into a magnet. With just some hot glue and a nice-looking piece of coin currency you have a great travel memory.

9. Memory Shadow Box

I really like this idea as well. Just grab a shadow box from your nearest craft or home store and put all your memories in it. You can use scrap book paper to line the back, display the city you traveled and add all your memories. You can put your ticket stubs, arm bands, photos, travel map, and anything else you like inside and then display it on a bookshelf or hang it on the wall.

I love having keepsake memories from all our travels. It’s a fun way to look back at all the places you have discovered. If you have any ideas on a great travel craft ideas please let us know.
